India: Presentation

Rapidly motorizing societies like India have an important choice to make when making transportation policy: Repeat the same mistakes of automobile dependent countries like the United States, or invest in mass transit and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

In this presentation Mark Gorton argues that the only reasonable choice is the latter. If India hopes to create an affluent, equitable society with livable cities Indians must start making choices that limit the dominance of the automobile now.
